Recently, I’ve upgraded my OS to Windows 10 in my PC primary hard drive and tried to install my LR6 in this drive.Īt first, it worked. I purchased the Lightroom 6 standalone perpetual licence in 2017 from an Adobe retailer (and with your tutorial videos as well) and have been using it with my Windows 7 OS. If you purchase Lightroom 6 and download it, be sure to keep and back up the downloaded installation file – even after installing the application – so that if you ever need to uninstall and reinstall or move to a new computer, you’ll be able to install it again. Nevertheless, if you are opposed to subscribing to Lightroom Classic CC (as part of the Photography Plan subscription) and you’re using Lightroom 5 or an earlier version, purchasing Lightroom 6 can be a way to gain some new features and possibly postpone your inevitable search for a non-Adobe alternative to Lightroom. In addition, you can’t import raw files from new cameras released since 2017 directly into Lightroom 6 – this part isn’t the end of the world though, since you can use Adobe’s free DNG Converter to convert the raw files to Adobe’s DNG raw file format and then you can import them into Lightroom 6, but it adds another step to your workflow. The Map module already doesn’t work (and never will again), since it relies on Google Maps and Google made a change that broke it. This means that if/when Windows and Mac operating system updates break Lightroom 6 features, they won’t be fixed.

As Jeff said, it received its final update in December, 2017. That said, for most of you I don’t recommend purchasing Lightroom 6. (It may also be available from other retailers.) UPDATE March 12, 2019: Adobe is no longer selling it on Amazon, but Adorama still is. – but I’m guessing that this will be available there for a very limited time, so if you’re interested in it, now’s the time to purchase it. Lightroom 6 is still for sale on Amazon though, at least in the U.S. You can get Lightroom 6 on a perpetual licence, but Lightroom CC comes with Photoshop CC as part of the Adobe Photography Plan, and it's a terrific deal. The application stopped receiving camera support and bug fixes at the end of 2017.” “Lightroom 6 is no longer available for sale on. Up until recently Adobe continued to sell Lightroom 6 – but here’s a recent statement from Jeff Tranberry of Adobe on its current availability: Lightroom 6 was the last perpetual version of Lightroom offered before Adobe went subscription-only with Lightroom Classic CC. Lightroom 6 is no longer for sale from authorized dealers. Skills: Photoshop, Photo Editing, Photoshop Design, Adobe Lightroom.

Need some basic editing like removing pimples from face, correcting skin tone and any other editing needed. Wish to upload on Instagram and Facebook. This topic was modified 51 years, 10 months ago by. I have a few of my photos from a recent vacation that i had gone to. Actually, compared side-by-side, RAWTherapee’s output looks slightly soft, but it looks a lot “cleaner”. (Obviously the 2 different programs use different methods, so you can’t really compare “numbers” when moving sliders) I rather like RAWTherapee’s sharpening better than Lightroom, maybe it’s just my method of sharpening, but Lightroom seems to create an awful lot of sharpening artifacts. The +1.6 value is for “Edges” so I think it’s the one equivalent to Lightroom’s.
Sharpening (Radius): +0.63 (or +1.6, I’m not sure which slider value to put, so I’ll put them both.
Blacks: +2454 (Don’t ask me what those numbers stand for, I don’t know!).(I don’t know whether green/purple is the same, but I don’t think it is.) I did set the blue/yellow WB to be the same in both programs, to keep the color tint about the same. Now, if you compare this comparison to my last one, these two photos are a lot more similar. You can use FastStone Image Viewer to compare 2 photos side-by-side if you wish.)Īnd finally, the edited photo from RAWTherapee! (Click on any photo to open in Flickr, where you can view at 100%, or download to view at your convenience with your favorite software. First, here’s an un-edited shot exported from Lightroom… This is the same RAW file processed with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.7, and RAWTherapee 4.2.1. I’ve already posted a quick comparison on this thread, but I decided that I’d better start my own thread so I don’t hijack that one!
